Eine - Welt - Kirche (One-World-Church)

...a church completely made from wood.

The concept for the One-World-Church stems from the architect Lothar Tabery. It is worldwide the first church to be constructed inside and out in Brettstapel technique. This way the church construction stresses the careful handling with the raw material wood. Low-grade pine and oak boards from the region was used. The simple technique is ideal for constructions in the Third World.
Also unique in this world is the 'One-Earth-Altar' by the artist Marianne Greve.
This altar will contains perspex 7.000 earth books once the altar is finally finished. The earth books will be filled with soil samples from the region and all over the world. The earth books are meant to symbolise the solidarity of all cultures and nations.
